Maybe You Need a Medical Malpractice Lawyer

May 22nd, 2009

Alarmingly, medication errors account for 78 percent of all serious medical errors in an intensive care unit. In the heat of an emergency, decisions have to be made fast, but if the wrong medications are prescribed, your health or the health of a loved one is at risk. The wrong medication can wreck greater havoc than the original illness may have presented.

Medication errors are often what prompt people to call a medical malpractice lawyer. Chicago is no stranger to medical malpractice.

There are several rules of thumb to prevent medication errors from occurring. Extended physician care work schedules should be eliminated. We ask too much of our doctors, and the stress can play itself out in damaging errors that can result in death. Would you want to ride a Greyhound when the bus driver hasn’t slept in a week?

Medication orders should be monitored to avoid human error. The current movement to computerize all hospital records should prove useful in this regard. The more streamlined our hospitals are, the fewer errors in medication we will suffer. When everything is on the same page, it’s easier to find the answers.

Pharmacists should have an active participating role in the ICU. Since the first place a patient will be prescribed a medication is often in the ICU, having a pharmacist on hand is every bit as important as having a doctor in the hospital. Pharmacists need to have more active roles in hospital settings, especially on the ICU ward.

Patients should receive complete consultation regarding any medications they are taking upon admission or discharge to the ICU, and up-to-date medication lists should be maintained.

Studies show that it takes as many as 80 to 100 correctly executed steps to administer a single dose of medication to a critically ill patient in an ICU ward. This allows great room for error if the hospital doesn’t establish a complete and extensive system of checks and balances.

Computer Slowing Down

March 6th, 2009

My computer started to run poorly several years after I had originally purchased it. I was worried that one day it would just stop working entirely. I worked from home and I relied upon my computer every day. I ran a small business on-line reselling items that I picked up at rummage sales and re-sale shops for a profit. I used my computer to check bids on-line, to communicate with buyers, and to advertise. I also used several of its programs for keeping track of my invoices, my expenditures, and to keep track of photos that I took of the items I was selling. I had owned the Dell computer for several years and had just noticed recently that its overall performance was declining.

I had someone tell me that my computer may be running poorly because it could be running low on memory. I had suspected that this was possible, but did not think that it was likely. I was also unaware of how I would be able to diagnose my computer’s problem without professional assistance. I called out a local computer repairman to come and take a look at it. After a series of tests the repairman informed me that my computer was very low on memory. I guess all of the photo files containing pictures of my merchandise had taken up a large amount of memory. Somehow I had taken the continued performance of my computer for granted, expecting it to work forever. I really didn’t realize that photos used up so much memory either.

I could not afford a new computer so I decided to look into Dell memory upgrades. I was concerned that these upgrades would be expensive and that I would be spending the same amount of money on the technician and memory upgrade that I could be spending on an entire brand new computer. Luckily, the Dell memory upgrades were much more affordable than I had though they would be.

The computer technician came back to my house and installed my Dell memory upgrades in less than twenty minutes. The process was actually quite simple and a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I ended up saving myself hundreds of dollars by not running out and just buying an entire new computer. My computer was up and running like new and now I could add a thousand more pictures of items for sale.

The Smile Makeover

March 4th, 2009

Has the enamel on your teeth worn down causing your teeth to look translucent or discolored? Are there chips or cracks in your teeth? Have your teeth become uneven over time? Are you unhappy with your teeth causing you to hide your smile? If you answered yes to any of these questions then it is time you thought about getting dental veneers.

Dental veneers are thin shells of material that are custom made to fit over your teeth or to fill in the gaps between your teeth. Dental veneers are one of the quickest and easiest ways fix your smile. There is little or drilling required and most veneers can be implanted during just one session.

Porcelain veneers can fix almost any problem you are having with your teeth. They can be used to straighten your teeth when orthodontics is not necessary. Veneers can cover discolored teeth that do not respond to whitening. They can cover cracked teeth or fill in cracked ones. Dental veneers can fill in where enamel has worn down over time. Veneers can fill in any abnormal spacing between your teeth.

The two most common materials used in making dental veneers are composite resin and porcelain. A dentist technician in a dental laboratory can make porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Composite veneers can also be made directly inside your mouth at the dentist office. Porcelain veneers are longer lasting and more expensive.

Most people choose porcelain veneers. Porcelain is glass-like in nature and is a perfect match to that of our natural teeth. Porcelain reflects light just like our natural enamel so your veneers will not stand out against your other teeth. Also, since porcelain is like glass, your veneers will not discolor when in contact with coffee, red wine, tobacco products and anything else that may cause your teeth to stain.

Dental veneers fall into the cosmetic category of dentistry and cannot be placed your normal family dentist. Dental veneers are considered cosmetic because they create a bright, white smile that is beautifully straight.

Dental veneers can do wonders for your smile. Whether your teeth are discolored or cracked, crooked or uneven, veneers can solve your problem. Technology has given us the knowledge and materials to fix our smiles quickly and without pain. There is no need to be unhappy with your smile. Enquire about dental veneers and start loving your teeth.

Tips on Setting up a Recording Studio

February 7th, 2009

Here are some basic techniques and solutions to set up a small home music recording studio or a cozy qualified professional studio. The paradigm stays the same as far as recording issues go.

Recording Service Mission
The plan is to create a music recording studio that specializes in mixing and mastering for you or your customers or personal use. The basic idea is to provide a means to allow a band/individual to bring in their instruments and record through technologies provided.

Target Market
The location of the studio can be constructed in any area with the proper amount of room and enough electric outlets. A safe area is a plus due to expensive equipment. The main consumer base is anyone interested and having a passion for creating music. The main group our marketing strategy will be applied to is students from high school to college and independent artists.

Why a music a business?
Currently, in many areas there is no recording studio promoting mixing and mastering. Within the market, the only other recording studio is focused on providing lessons. They do not offer mixing and mastering but only a simple recording. There is a gap in the market. Other studios don’t provide advertisements. An effective marketing strategy will make this business a success.

Special features
The benefits to outperforming your competitors are the ability to produce the tracks. While others just record and return the un-mastered files, we will mix the tracks, adjust the volume to give it a clean sound, and master the track to give the artist an industry sound.

Marketing strategy

Being within the Purdue network, gives youe options your competitors do not. Access to facebook to create a page for students to view, creating ads to put into the A plan to get more customers is to offer a free mix/master on their first track given they pay for the hourly studio time.
This is as simple as it gets when using even the minimal equipment necessary to build a home or professional music recording studio. Guitar Players Center specializes in people who play the guitar, a studio set-up using these basic parameters is perfect for that type of recording, although it works quite well on any musical recording situations.
